As you may have read on Each Note Secure or Cincinnati.com or their facebook page, The Southgate House will close its doors after New Years Eve.
We are sad to announce that after 30 years in continuous operation as a music venue under the ownership and operation of Ross Raleigh, the Southgate House will host its last show on New Years Eve, Dec. 31 2011.
We look forward to opening our business in a new location soon.
Thank you for the wonderful memories and your support.
I personally have seen a slew of shows at the Southgate house, and while I know that some WTFCincy fans don’t think highly of the place, I always had a good time. Between J Roddy, The Rivertown Breakdown, Frightened Rabbit, and many others acts, I have had the pleasure of seeing music in the speak easy where the tommy gun was brought to notoriety.
If you have never been to the Southgate House, now is your last chance to see a show in an amazing venue. Hopefully someone will be able to take over the space and keep the wonderful atmosphere alive.
Since I have seen Jake Speed & The Freddies there numerous times, it seems fitting to attach a song that Jake et al usually use to close out shows.
